I Wish

I lie here resting, wondering

because I am always doing things,

doing things, doing things, doing

and exploring the universe in search of

explanations.

Never enough.

Explanations are like food.

I eat them and then they are gone.

I ponder and wonder and I gaze

and my best friend has reminded me

that what I must do above all things

is remember.

The old people, and some young,

are losing their memories.

Not because someone has been bad

or because there is metal in the coffee,

but because we need to be reminded

that to remember is our highest duty

and greatest treasure.

Do not forget.

To remember is to love.

We cannot know or love what we have

forgotten.

Take a break from all the lists

of all the things to do

and remember that you always

possess a great power,

the power to wish.

Just wishing is all we need to do.

We think of wishing as the beginning

but for the infinite universe it is the end.

A mind wishing is Nature's highest achievement.

Wish. Just wish.

You are your wish.

One's wish is what one is.

There is nothing more that needs to be done.

Though we can be sure that mountains will move

and seas will rise by the forces of great powers,

by the wishes, by the end of time.

The universe tells me it does

not need to be understood or managed.

It is just always a child or elder

who does not want to be alone.

And here I am.
